Registered Master Builders House of The Year Awards

Description from Register Master Builders House of The Year Awards’ website:

With its crowded, three-bedroom, 100sqm layout, this original 1920s Christchurch home was in desperate need of a modern update. And that’s exactly what it got. The rebooted beauty is now a 160sqm, four-bedroom residence that’s fully calibrated for contemporary living.

The owner’s wish list included an enhanced feeling of space, with an emphasis on increasing the living area with outdoor flow to the north. Kitchen, dining and family areas mingle happily under a 3.6m stud in the new open-plan area. There’s a separate lounge too. Glazed folding doors and a large window open to the spacious deck. A serving bar off the kitchen is a superb feature positioned close to the barbecue.

A new master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe was another dream of the busy owners – tick that off. The superb northfacing space also opens to the deck for effortless enjoyment of the outdoors.

The family is thrilled with the results of this revamp, which maintains all the beauty and character of a bungalow with the benefit of modern thinking.
